Refoucusing our Mission

Hey Guys,
We are still so amazed at how God has been leading us over the past couple of days. We have hit some hiccups along the way but God has been faithful to smooth them out when we trust in him for guidance. I could go on all day about how faithful God has been or how awesome it is to have all y'alls support but I want to take a second to reset our focus.

Why do we do any of this? Why do we go through so much trouble to raise funds or go on mission trips or serve? If you think its because an earthquake hit or God needs you to do something for him, then I would ask you to rethink your position. God is all powerful, all loving and is capable of anything! He doesn't need us to do anything, but he wants us to serve him. Thats the whole idea behind this t-shirt movement; to serve God however and wherever necessary.

I came across a verse a couple days ago, 2Timothy 4:2a

"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season."

So many times Christians get caught up in the seasonal serving. We do our mission trips and then come back home and never share Gods love. "Be prepared in season and out of season." God wants to use you in your school, in your neighborhood, at work! God gives you opportunities every day, all you have to do is make the first step. It may be uncomfortable it may even be scary, but there is a reward for obedience beyond our understanding. It doesn't matter what we are doing, but as long as we are doing it for the glory of the Lord we will be blessed and in turn be a blessing to others.

As I was searching for the passage in 2Timothy, I flipped to 1Timothy on accident and found a verse that I've known for years, but it wasn't until just a second ago that it really sunk in and began to hold meaning.

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love and in purity." - 1Timothy4: 12

Our entire group of students, all 409 of y'all are still in high school! To the worlds standards you are young, but you are stepping up in a huge way! Don't let people discourage you! Through serving the people of Haiti you have the amazing opportunity to tell people what you believe in and "set the example" of what it is like to be living for God.

"and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us an gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." - Ephesians 5:2

Lets bring this idea of sacrificial love to our schools and our community. Lets partner together to live out our calling so serve Gods children, to help his people, and to be a light in the darkness.

Catie
